Gundam amd Mecha model making has become extremely popular in the last few years. Gundam is a massive Japanese military science-fiction media franchise centered on giant robots known as “Mobile Suits”. Created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and launched in 1979, it pioneered the “real robot” anime genre by depicting mechas as mass-produced military weapons operating in complex, politically charged space operas, rather than magical superheroes. Whilst many Gundam modellers only ever assemble and not paint it’s becoming increasingly common to see beautifully painted and even weathered examples.
