An army, particularly one as mobilized as the Wehrmacht, needs a constant supply of ammunition and the Munitionschlepper was their answer to keeping tropps supplied. Whilst never made in the quantities initially envisaged it did prove to be quite an effective machine and could get both bullets and shells to frontline troops, even under fire. It is estimated 28 were produced before there was a design change.
